VaasaETT, a leading energy consultancy specializing in complex retail and consumer-centric energy issues across over 90 markets around the world, is seeking to hire an Energy Market Modelling Analyst/Specialist based in our Helsinki or Thessaloniki office. You will join VaasaETT’s Energy Modelling and Procurement Optimization Team, providing analytical and practical support for our large commercial customers.  Your primary tasks will involve upgrading and developing in-house asset optimization modelling, forecasting wholesale and ancillary market prices, battery asset optimization and assessment, power procurement optimization, developing and maintaining models, performing data analysis, and creating visualizations. The role will include: 

- Developing and enhancing VaasaETT’s own energy price forecasting and techno-economic optimization models,

- Modeling and forecasting the fundamentals and dynamics of power markets and prices around the world,

- Conducting power markets and country analysis to support the development of our clients’ global energy procurement strategies,

- Interpreting the impact of regional, national, and international sustainability trends on power prices and broader energy supply costs,

- Synthesizing quantitative and qualitative insight into informative and easy-to-understand deliverables to our clients.

Our ideal candidate for the position possesses excellent analytical skills and experience in energy modeling and energy price forecasting, yet can see the bigger picture, identify patterns in data, understand the drivers, and recognize the interrelationships between them. You have a proactive attitude and a curious mindset. You want to look into the future, to predict and build state-of-theart models relevant for the energy industry. You are comfortable cooperating closely with customers (even at a senior level), and you are skilled when it comes to “telling a story” with data. Also, your communication skills are strong. 

You can handle diverse projects as well as variations in project length and workload, and you have a flexible attitude, not mind tight deadlines or working evenings if the customer's time zone requires it (only occasionally). You work efficiently and have an eye for detail. You are proactive, a selfstarter, but you also enjoy working as part of a team.  

We are looking for someone with: 

- Excellent with programming languages (Python being the most relevant)

- Experience in handling data 

- Experience in mathematical modeling, knowledge of optimization methods and algorithms Knowledge of energy markets and experience in advanced market analysis

- Excellent written and spoken English skills

- Relevant Master´s degree (e.g., in Energy Modeling, Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or other numerical degrees - Statistics, Economics, Environmental Economics, etc.).
