The researcher will work on the design and optimization of neural networks and deep learning architectures for low-power, resource-constrained embedded systems, including SoCs and MCUs (e.g. ARM-based microcontrollers, RISC-V systems and FPGAs). The goal is to apply state-of-the-art AI techniques for edge devices, including model compression, quantization, neural architecture search and continual learning, to enable localized decision making at the edge and on-device adaptation while minimizing energy consumption.

 

The position is based at the Department of Advanced Computing Sciences, Maastricht University (https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/research/department-advanced-computing-sciences), within the newly established Computer Systems research theme. The researcher will perform research on novel architectures and optimization methods for edge AI algorithms, publish results in top-tier conferences and journals, actively participate in grant acquisition activities and assist with educational tasks.
