Traineeship for graduates in the European Parliament's newly created Expenditure Analysis Unit in Brussels, Belgium

 

 

The Expenditure Analysis Unit, located in Brussels, Belgium within the Directorate-General for Budgetary Affairs, is seeking talented students and recent graduates with quantitative skills in fields such as (but not only):

  •   Statistics
  •   Data Science
  •   Economics
  •   Public Policy Economics
  •   Economic Governance
  •   Data Visualization.

Additionally, having an interest or prior experience in European Union policy fields is a plus.

As a trainee in the Expenditure Analysis Unit, you will be part of an expanding multinational team responsible for analysing the EU budget. You will have the opportunity to contribute to preparing research for the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgets and the Committee on Budgetary Control. You will help with collecting and managing budgetary data, analysing it as well as with preparing visualisations of budget-related data sets. You will also participate in parliamentary committee meetings, other events and report on them. You might travel to Strasbourg, France with other Schuman trainees for a plenary session of the European Parliament.

Application details:

There are two traineeship rounds per year:

October traineeship: 1 October to end February

March traineeship: 1 March to end July

 

The next application period is for the October 2025 to February 2026 traineeship, and you can submit your application starting 1 May 2025. The deadline for submission is 31 May 2025, 23:59 (Brussels time).
