ONE (1) POSITION OF HUMAN RESOURCE ASSISTANT

The ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence (CoE) (www.eratosthenes.org.cy) of the Cyprus University of Technology (www.cut.ac.cy) invites applications for one (1) position of Human Resource (HR) Assistant at ERATOSTHENES CoE. The position is open on a full-time employment basis.

ERATOSTHENES CoE is an autonomous Centre of Excellence with Cyprus University of Technology as its sole stakeholder, specialising in earth observation, space technology and geospatial analysis. Cyprus University of Technology has experience in earth observations and geospatial analysis since 2007. Through the “EXCELSIOR” H2020 Teaming Project (https://excelsior2020.eu/), ERATOSTHENES CoE aspires to become a Digital Innovation Hub for Earth Observation and Geospatial Information by offering knowledge, responsible research, open innovation and application services capable of sustaining Cyprus’ development. ERATOSTHENES CoE aspires to actively contribute to the European Research Area (ERA) priorities in Atmosphere and Climate, Resilient Societies and Big Earth Data Analytics, as well as to become the reference Earth Observation/Geoinformation Centre for research and innovation in the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa (EMMENA) region.

A core activity of ERATOSTHENES CoE is to conduct high caliber, state-of-the-art research, both basic and applied. A central task is to acquire research funding for the Centre, to provide facilities to the researchers, and to support them to acquire funding for their research independently and via international and local collaborations. Collaborations with industrial partners are particularly encouraged and facilitated.

Description of the Position

The successful candidate will support the daily operations of the Human Resources office, assisting in recruitment processes, employee onboarding and offboarding, maintaining personnel records, and handling administrative tasks related to HR policies and procedures. The role includes ensuring compliance with labour laws and internal regulations, managing HR documentation, and providing support in payroll administration. The successful candidate will also assist in organizing employee engagement initiatives and maintaining HR databases and systems. Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills are essential for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities will include:
• Assist in the recruitment process, including job postings, screening applications, and scheduling interviews;
• Support the onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring proper documentation and orientation for new employees;
• Maintain and update personnel records, ensuring compliance with labour laws and internal policies;
• Assist in payroll preparation by collecting and verifying leaves, and other relevant data;
• Support in the organization of training programs, workshops, and other employee development initiatives;
• Provide administrative support in the implementation of HR policies, procedures, and compliance requirements;
• Assist in organizing employee engagement activities and initiatives to promote a positive work environment;
• Handle HR-related inquiries from employees and provide support on basic HR matters;
• Maintain HR databases and digital records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality;
• Assist in drafting HR-related reports, letters, and internal communications;
• Any other supporting administrative duties deemed necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field;
• At least 1-2 years of experience in an HR role;
• Knowledge of HR principles, labour laws, and best practices;
• Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Forms);
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• High level of attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality;
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment;
• Fluency in English (both written and spoken).

The appointment will be for a period of one year (12 months) with the prospect of renewal for another one year. The annual gross salary for the full-time position will be in the range of salary scales A2 – A5 (in the range €15.109 - €26.907), depending on qualifications and experience. It is noted that there is provision for 13th salary (the cost of the 13th salary is proportionally incorporated in the monthly remuneration).
